The EtG Urine Alcohol Test will detect ingestion of Ethyl Alcohol within the past 80 hours. EtG is a metabolite of Ethyl Alcohol, and can be detected for longer periods of time after ingestion than simply testing for Ethyl Alcohol. This test is not an under the influence test. The specimen will be screened, and if necessary will be tested by GC/MS.
Why Do I Need It?:
Customers that request EtG testing may be in a program that requires them to have this test. It is sometimes used by the court system for persons who may have had a DUI in the past. Employers that have a Zero Tolerance alcohol usage policy may be interested in this test, as well as employers that have substance abuse programs in place that require enrollees to be tested.
This test can give you a look back for several days on alcohol ingestion, so it is also frequently used by parents who are interested in finding out if their child has ingested alcohol recently. You may also consider this as part of the Trust But Verify accountability program.
Other Relevant Tests:
Results for this test will be reported as positive or negative for Ethyl Glucuronide.

Have concerns in addition to alcohol? ANY LAB TEST NOW offers multiple panel configurations, as well as nail testing with a longer detection period, for individual drugs. Speak to your friendly medical assistant to discuss a custom testing option that might better fit your needs.
Taking prescription medications? If you are concerned that a prescription medication you are taking may interfere with the results of your drug test, we can have a doctor confidentially review the test results before releasing them. The doctor, called a Medical Review Officer (MRO), will validate the usage and concentration and release results as a negative for any legal usage of a prescription drug that causes a positive result.
What Type of Physician Should You See?
If you are abusing alcohol and are seeking help to stop, you should contact your primary care physician or a substance abuse counselor.
